Link tasks, notes, projects and steps across Cronum Work
Drag a note onto a task, or a task onto a step, and they're linked. The supplier's quote sits on the task that needs it, and ticking off one thing can tick off the other. Here is how linking works across the four modules.
The task says Order the worktop. The supplier's quote is in a note. The kitchen plan is in a project, and where you really are is in Next. Four good places, and the day you order the worktop, you open all four to find what goes with what.
In Cronum Work, the four modules can point at each other. Link the quote to the task once, and from then on the task shows it, one tap away.
Drag one onto the other
With two windows side by side, say Tasks and Notes, pick up the note and carry it over the task. Before you let go, it tells you what will happen: Link with “Order the worktop”, or Already linked if they are. Drop it, and a message says Linked with “Order the worktop”, with Undo beside it in case you dropped it on the wrong one.
It works with tasks, notes, steps in Next and phases in Projects, in any direction: a note on a phase, a task on a step, a step on a note.
Drop it on a window's header to make something new
Sometimes the other half doesn't exist yet. You have the task Order the worktop and you want a note for the measurements and the quotes.
Carry the task to the header of the Notes window instead, the strip at the top with its name. It says Create in Notes, linked to “Order the worktop”. Let go, and Notes makes a new note with the task's title, already linked to it; Open takes you straight there. The same works the other way: drop a note on the Tasks header and it becomes a task, linked to the note it came from.
Links show as chips
Every task, note, project and step has a Linked row with one chip per link, in the colour of the module it lives in: you can tell a note from a step at a glance. A tap opens it beside, in its own module's window, without closing what you were doing; go back and you're where you were.
A chip also tells you how the other side stands, such as done, or no longer in Notes if someone deleted the note.
"+ Link" from anywhere
You don't need two windows open, or a mouse. At the end of the Linked row, + Link offers two things:
- Add to Tasks…, Add to Notes… and the rest: makes something new in another module, already linked, without leaving where you are.
- Link existing…: search the other module by part of a title and pick the one you mean.
That's how you do it on your phone too, where you see one module at a time.
Complete together
Some links are more than a reference: they're the same piece of work in two places. For those, turn on Complete together, and completing one completes the other.
A few examples:
- The shopping and the project. The project task Buy tiles and grout goes on your shopping list in Tasks with Add to Tasks…, due on its end date. Tick it off in the shop, and the task in Projects is done too, so the plan moves on.
- A task and a step. Link a task to the next step of a project in Next. When you tick off the task, the step's card in Next tells you Tasks has it done. and offers to log the step.
- A note's checklist. In Notes, send a line of your meeting checklist to Tasks: it becomes a task, linked to the note it came from.
Complete together is on when you create something with + Link, and off when you link two things that already exist. Change it any time from the chip's menu.
Each person sees only what they could see
A link never opens a door. If you link your task to a note in a notebook your colleague can't open, they see the chip as Linked item with no access, and nothing more: no title, no content. Share the notebook with them, and the chip opens for them too.
Your AI can link too
If you've connected an AI assistant to Cronum Work, it can make the same links, in your words:
Link the supplier's quote to the "Order the worktop" task.
Save the kickoff notes in Notes and link them to the kitchen project.
Add "Buy tiles and grout" to the shopping list, and tick off the project task when I tick it off there.
It can also follow the links: ask what's linked to a task, and it reads the note it points to before answering. That's what makes meeting notes your AI can find useful the day you need them.
A few links worth making
- The quote, the plan or the photo on the task that needs it.
- The kickoff notes on the project, so the plan and what was agreed sit together.
- Every project task you'll do while out and about, on the right list, completing together.
- Each task that closes a step, linked to that step, so picking up the project starts from the truth.
